Our Grade 3 class has incorporated a set of rules, developed by the Tribes initiative, to honour and abide by. We all signed this Constitution and look to maintain it in our classroom community. It goes as follows:
Article 1: Attentive Listening - We listen with our eyes , ears, and hearts.
Article 2: Mutual Respect - We will treat the way we want to be treated.
Article 3: Appreciation/No put-downs - We will speak kindly to others and think of other people’s feelings.
Article 4: Right to participate/pass - We have the right to pass in certain activities, and know the more we participate the more we gain.
Article 5: Safety - We will always think of safety first.
To further our understanding of these rules, we talked about what each looked like, sounded like, and felt like. In addition to helping you child understand what it means to be a good citizen in a community, our school has established the Character Education program. Each month, student learn about and apply a new character trait that builds good character in a person.

Making Meaningful Friendships

Our class has been reading and learning about how to treat each other respectfully at school. As one of our read aloud books, we read "The Berenstain Bears: Trouble with Friends". Sister Bear finds a new friend, but all is not what it should be when attitudes and an argument get in the way of having some fun. Through reading this book we are covering such themes as how to use our words nicely, sharing, and how to include everyone while we work and play. As a class we discussed different types of solutions for common conflicts.
Keeping it a GREEN DAY!!!

The Grade 3's have already been displaying great behavioural skills and adjusting to the classroom environment smoothly. In continuing with the idea of having students responsible for their own behaviour, each student can visually see how they are doing throughout the entire day to ensure that they are doing their best.
